19th Century Marine Glass Inkwell.
A very heavy 4 1/4 ” inch diameter ” pancake ” inkwell. Excellent condition with no damage. These inkwells were made with a low centre of gravity so as not to tip over in rough sea weather. Sturdily made with high quality glass that was resistant to shock. Circa 1850 or near so. Brass cap. Glass shows many flecks of soda ash present.
